State Rep. Joseph Pavlov announced that $10 million in state funding has been secured to support substance use recovery services around the state, strengthening recovery efforts for individuals and families impacted by substance use disorders.
Pavlov (R-Smiths Creek) said the investment will allow the Michigan Association of Recovery Community Organizations (MARCO) and similar programs to compete for grants to expand their partnerships with local recovery groups and provide more access to support, education, and community-based programs throughout our community.
“I’ve seen MARCO’s work change lives by providing support, advocacy, and resources for people on the road to recovery,” Pavlov said. “That is why I went to bat for them and other organizations doing similar work around the state. This funding means more people will get the help they need to overcome addiction and rebuild their lives. And that’s what makes this such a strong investment for our state – it will lead to healthier families and safer communities.”
The funding will allow substance abuse treatment organizations to reach more people, strengthen local partnerships, and deliver services to families who may otherwise lack access to recovery resources.
“This is about giving people hope and making sure no one has to walk the road to recovery alone,” Pavlov said. “With this vote, we were able to give more people that chance at a better future.”
The House approved the new state budget plan on Aug. 26. It now advances to the Michigan Senate for consideration as negotiations continue over the coming weeks.
