State Rep. Ann Bollin, R-Brighton Township, today issued the following statement after today’s Consensus Revenue Estimating Conference projected $588.7 million more revenue for state government this year and an additional $1.2 billion in Fiscal Year 2025-26:
“Michigan families deserve a government that prioritizes their needs — not one that wastes their hard-earned money. With Republicans now leading the House, we are laser-focused on fixing what matters most, like repairing the local roads that have been neglected for far too long.
“While the increase in revenue projections announced at the Consensus Revenue Estimating Conference is welcome news, this cannot be seen as an invitation to spend recklessly. We have an opportunity to invest in critical infrastructure and essential services while also ensuring that extra revenue is returned to taxpayers through meaningful tax relief. Families across Michigan are feeling the pinch, and they deserve to keep more of what they earn.
“The governor spent the last two years squandering a $9 billion surplus on corporate handouts, pork projects, and unnecessary government expansions. That kind of fiscal irresponsibility is over. My colleagues and I are committed to cutting waste, prioritizing essential services, and restoring accountability in Lansing.”
