Rep. St. Germaine to help set public policy on economic, transportation issues
RELEASE|January 19, 2023

State Rep. Alicia St. Germaine will serve on the Economic Development and Small Business; and Transportation, Mobility and Infrastructure committees during the 2023-24 legislative session.

St. Germaine has worked side by side with Michigan small-business owners and their employees for the last 25 years. The first-term legislator looks forward to helping all job providers flourish and promoting skilled trades training to improve the economy.

“There are thousands of good-paying jobs available in Michigan right now and not enough properly trained people to fill them,” said St. Germaine, R-Harrison Township. “One way to improve our economy and strengthen small businesses is by ensuring the resources are available to train people for these jobs.”

St. Germaine said her appointment to the transportation and infrastructure committee gives her an important seat at the table regarding Macomb County’s water infrastructure needs.

“Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller has done a tremendous job with the sewer infrastructure projects here in Macomb County, and the state must continue to step up to help,” St. Germaine said. “Our county drains and lake infrastructure are a vital asset and part of our way of life in Macomb, and I look forward to being a strong voice for local residents.”

St. Germaine also wants to help improve the way the state allocates funding to fix roads and bridges.

“First and foremost, I will strongly advocate for ways to improve the infrastructure allocation process without raising taxes on the people of Michigan,” St. Germaine said. “Proposals like ensuring all taxes paid at the pump actually go to fix roads must be considered.”
